TRUE

A woman was injured after struggling with an unclothed suspect who broke into her home in Taman Sri Sentosa on Friday.

In the incident at approximately 3pm, the victim was hanging clothes when she heard the sound of a grill door being opened and assumed it was her housemate.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Hoo Chang Hook said after realising the suspect's presence, the 20-year-old victim tried to flee but was blocked by the male suspect.

According to him, the incident led to a struggle between the two, causing the victim to suffer injuries to her left thigh, lip and left hand, which were bruised and scratched.

"The suspect threatened to kill the victim and also demanded money," he said on Sunday (Nov 9).

"The victim also tried to get help through her mobile phone, but the suspect took the phone before leaving after the woman did not give her phone password," he added.

He said acting on a report made by the victim, the suspect, who has a criminal record with 12 prior criminal and seven drug offences and tested positive for cannabis, was arrested in Taman Sri Sentosa at 7.12pm on Saturday (Nov 8).

He added that police seized three mobile phones including the victim's, a backpack, a laptop, a shirt, trousers and slippers.

"Preliminary investigations found that the suspect admitted to being involved in several cases previously investigated involving cases under Section 394 and Section 380 of the Penal Code," he said.

"The man also claimed to have committed robbery for daily expenses," he added.

He stressed that the suspect was remanded for five days until Nov 13 to assist further investigations under Section 394 of the Penal Code.

The incident has raised concerns about home security in the area.

Residents are advised to ensure their homes are properly secured and to remain vigilant.
