GIVE and take is an important consideration on the road, especially when it comes to queueing at checkpoints and toll plazas – and using the correct lane at such locations.
Even if someone cuts the line or makes a mistake, it is always recommended to keep a cool head in the event of any confrontation.
Unfortunately, this seems to have not been the case in Johor Baru recently when an altercation between two drivers was recorded on video and went viral on Facebook.
It is said that the incident occurred after a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) entered the dedicated bus lane at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Customs, Immigration and Quarantine complex.
Did this happen as claimed?
VERDICT:
TRUE
Johor Baru OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the incident occurred at 3pm on Sunday (Sept 28).
"The scuffle started when an e-hailing driver in an MPV allegedly entered the dedicated bus lane at BSI," he said in a statement on Monday (Sept 29).
ACP Raub said this led to a bus driver stopping his vehicle and getting down to confront the MPV driver.
"A fight ensued at the scene and both drivers sustained minor injuries," he said.
The 28-year-old e-hailing driver and 43-year-old bus driver, both local men, then lodged police reports, he added.
ACP Raub said that the case is being investigated under Section 160 of the Penal Code for affray, which disturbs the public peace.
Offenders face up to six months' jail, or a fine of up to RM1,000, or both if convicted.
