There is a viral video allegedly showing a thief stealing an elderly woman's handbag in a mosque in Johor recently. Did this really happen?

Seri Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said a 71-year-old woman had lodged a report that her handbag was stolen while performing prayers at a mosque at Felda Ulu Tebrau in Ulu Tiram.

“The incident happened on Tuesday (Aug 26) at 8.40pm," he said in a statement.

ACP Sohaimi urged those with information on the case to contact the Seri Alam police at 07-3864222 or contact the investigative officer Sergeant R. Kogilan at 016-9290033.

The two-minute-and-17-second video of the theft at Masjid Al Falah, Kampung Ulu Tebrau, Ulu Tiram was uploaded in the Community Roda Johor on Thursday (Aug 28) at noon.

In the video, the bespectacled suspect wearing a white t-shirt was seen entering the section for women congregation to steal the handbag.
