HIGH-OCTANE pursuits tend to be short-lived due to the intense speeds and high risks involved. However, these pursuits can sometimes escalate unpredictably, leading to extended chases. Recently, a video went viral showing a dramatic 90km high-speed chase involving suspects and the police. Did such an incident actually happen in Shah Alam?
Verdict:

TRUE
Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the incident began at around 1.30am on Tuesday (Aug 5), when a patrol unit spotted a blue car in the area.
"Police personnel ordered the driver to stop, using sirens and a loudspeaker, but the driver instead sped off recklessly in an attempt to evade arrest,” he said in a statement.
This led to a 90-km chase throughout Shah Alam, involving six additional patrol vehicles, before police successfully intercepted the vehicle in Seksyen 9, directly in front of the Selangor police headquarters, he said.
"Two brothers, aged 18 and 24, were arrested at the scene.
"A further inspection of the car uncovered a bottle containing a green liquid believed to be ketum juice under the front passenger seat.
"Checks revealed that the 24-year-old suspect had prior criminal records related to drug offences, while the other suspect had no criminal history," he added.
Earlier, a 17-second clip showed several police vehicles in hot pursuit of a car around the commercial district in Shah Alam, sparking widespread public interest.
ACP Mohd Iqbal said the suspects will be remanded.
"We urge those with information regarding the incident to contact Investigating Officer Insp S. Nawinthan at 016-2052314.
