SOMETIMES, the smallest room can hold the biggest surprises.
It was claimed recently that for one man in Kota Bharu, a visit to the bathroom turned into an unexpected adventure when a scaly guest made themselves at home in his toilet bowl.
Did a Kelantan man really find a snake in his toilet recently?
VERDICT:
TRUE
A man in Kota Bharu faced a terrifying moment when a one-metre-long cobra suddenly appeared as he was about to use the toilet in his home in Peringat on Wednesday (May 28).
In the incident that occurred at around 11.22am, the 46-year-old man managed to save himself before contacting the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Kota Bharu for assistance.
Kota Bharu Civil Defence Officer Major (PA) Mohd Saiful Azam Ismail said it took them about seven minutes to capture the reptile.
"Given the current weather conditions, we advise the public to always ensure that the water outlets in the toilet are tightly closed.
Additionally, placing a weight on the toilet lid can prevent snakes from entering through the outlet.
This is because damp areas often become hotspots for venomous animals during hot weather," he said when contacted on Thursday.
He also advised the public to immediately contact the emergency number 999 if they see any reptiles and not to spray any chemicals like insect sprays before the rescue team arrives.
He added that people are also advised not to place flower pots too close to each other, especially for those who enjoy gardening activities.
"Ensure that the areas around the house do not become overgrown, which could serve as hiding places for snakes," he said.
