Verdict:

TRUE

A car chase between two vehicles resulted in a three-car collision at KM 308 of the North-South Expressway, in the right lane heading north, near Kampar.

Kampar OCPD Supt Mohamad Nazri Daud reported that two accident reports were received at 10.46am on Tuesday (April 8).

"The video of the incident has been circulating widely on social media. The incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between two vehicles, which escalated into a chase on the highway," he said in a statement.

During the chase, one of the vehicles suddenly braked, causing it to be rear-ended by two other vehicles. The impact caused serious damage to both the front and rear sections of the involved vehicles, though no injuries or fatalities were reported.

All three vehicles have been towed to the Kampar police headquarters for further investigation. Nazri stated that the case is being investigated under Regulation 10 of the Road Traffic Rules LN 166/59.

"Initial investigations suggest there may have been a criminal element involved prior to the accident. As such, the case has been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Serdang police headquarters in Selangor for further action," he added.

He urged the public not to speculate on the incident and to come forward with any relevant information by lodging a report at the nearest police station.
