RUMOURS can spread like wildfire, especially on social media. A recent post has alarmed many by alleging that kidnappings and rapes have taken place in Cyberjaya. Is this true?

The police have debunked a social media post that claimed kidnappings and rapes were occurring in Cyberjaya.

Sepang deputy OCPD Supt Shan Gopal Krishnan said the post claimed that several kidnappings and rapes occurred at several condominiums in Cyberjaya last month.

"No police reports were lodged over the alleged incidents.

"We advise the public to not share unverified news as it could cause public distress," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 19).
