QuickCheck: Is there a fake social media account using the name of a major KL hospital?

The legitimacy of information found on social media is something we all worry about.

What's even more damaging is when unscrupulous parties use a trusted name and start dispensing "information" to the public.

Recently, a Facebook account emerged spoofing the name "Hospital Kuala Lumpur - KKM".

Is the official Facebook page for Hospital Kuala Lumpur?

Verdict:

FALSE

Hospital Kuala Lumpur has denied that the account in question is theirs.

In a message on the official "Hospital Kuala Lumpur KKM" Facebook and Instagram accounts, HKL denied any association with the aforementioned Facebook account.

The official HKL does not have a hyphen in its account name, as opposed to the fake.

In the statement, HKL labelled it as a "Fake Account" and distanced themselves from any content pushed out using their name.

HKL warned the public to avoid the spoof page and to obtain information regarding HKL services and updates from verified sources only.
