WHEN it comes to agriculture-related matters in the country, one of the most relevant government bodies is the Agriculture Department.

However, it has been claimed that the department's logo is being misused to deceive companies into providing supplies and services.

Is it true that the Agriculture Department's logo is being misused?

VERDICT:

TRUE

The Agriculture Department, in a statement, said that it viewed seriously the misuse of its logo to deceive companies.

It said such tactics by certain parties who submitted the purported "government orders" had resulted in companies suffering losses as there were no such requests for orders and services from the department.

"Such action will lead to a negative perception of the Agriculture Department as well as the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry by the community.

"As such, the department would like to advise parties which are involved in supply and services to use the 'Sistem e-Perolehan and iGFMAS for every application," the department said in its statement.

It also urged the parties involved to contact the Agriculture Department before sending any supplies or providing services to avoid similar fraud cases from recurring.
