VIDEOS claiming to show crimes in progress tend to go viral due to the shocking nature of such acts, and this includes offences such as robbery.

Recently a two-minute-long video went viral on TikTok in which a man can be seen trying to break a coin exchange machine at a laundromat before running away after an alarm at the premises goes off.

The video has since gained a million views.

It is claimed that this happened in Bandar Dato Onn in Johor Baru. Is this true?

TRUE

According to Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat, the incident occurred on Sunday (May 19) at 3.36am.

“The owner of the premises lodged a police report on the same day, and we are still on the lookout for the suspect,” ACP Raub said in a statement here on Tuesday (May 21).

The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft.
