Many were quick to decide it was gangsterism-related when sharing the video.

Did a gang fight erupt in Bintulu as depicted in the viral video?

Verdict:

FALSE

Clearing the air over the incident, Bintulu OCPD Supt Nixon Joshua Ali said police were aware of the viral video and the fight was over a noisy motorcycle.

"The recent minute-long viral video incident of a group of men fighting and shoving each other happened here in the Bintulu district.

"The results of our investigation found that the incident happened at around 10pm on April 2.

"Two men had a disagreement caused by noise made from a motorcycle in the neighbourhood," he said in a statement on Monday (April 8).

Supt Nixon said during the disagreement, some family members came forward to control the situation.

"The woman in the video is the mother of one of those who went to resolve the issues but she suffered minor injuries during the fight.

"Both parties have given their statements at the police station explaining the incident and stating that it has been resolved.

"We detected no elements of gangsterism," he said.

Supt Nixon advised the public not to spread any inaccurate information and create problems, especially regarding sensitive issues.

"We will not tolerate any form of law-breaking," he said.
