DRIVE-BY shootings may be more common on the silver screen but healthcare workers at the Kapar health clinic in Klang recently called in the cops after treating a local man for gunshot wounds.

Is it true that the man was injured in a drive-by shooting?

VERDICT:

TRUE

North Klang OCPD Asst Comm S. Vijaya Rao said, in a statement, that the Kapar police station had received a call on the incident from the Kapar health clinic at 4.54pm on March 6.

"The health clinic staff informed the police that they had treated a local man for gunshot wounds," he said.

ACP Vijaya Rao said the victim, a 46-year-old local man who worked as a security guard supervisor, had been shot in the right hand, right ribs and right shoulder and had been admitted to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang for treatment.

"Investigations into a CCTV recording near the scene of the incident showed that the suspects, who were in a black car, had shot the victim at close range," he said.

He also said that so far, five local men, aged from 40 to 45 years old, have been arrested to assist in investigations into the case.

"We have yet to determine a motive and investigations are being carried out under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder," he said.

ACP Vijaya Rao urged those with any information on the case to contact investigating officer Asst Supt Sathiyaseelan Manar at 012-519 7913 or visit the nearest police station to help in investigations.
