QuickCheck: Is the Power Ranger's headquarters based on an actual building?

IF you were a Malaysian kid in the 90s, it is very likely that you would have enjoyed every single episode of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers played on local TV.

In each episode, the five teenage heroes battled the evil forces sent by Rita Repulsa, guided by Zordon and Alpha 5 from the Command Centre.

While the cool meeting point for the Rangers looks like a cool sci-fi structure, is the Command Centre based on a real building?

VERDICT:

TRUE

Yes, the Command Centre is in Simi Valley, California and is called the House of the Book; according to the Mother of All Nerds website, it is part of a university's campus and it was designed in 1973 by architect Sidney Eisenshtat.

In the article on the building, it adds that it has been used for various TV productions, including Power Rangers.

Meanwhile, video journalist Steve Silva wrote about his trip to the House of the Book in 2014 on his website and said that when asking permission to visit and take pictures of the campus, the university authority told him that tourists have frequently asked permission to visit the building.

With that said, what can someone do if you have neither the time nor money to get over there?

Well, the House of the Book is searchable on Google Maps and as such, you can view the building through this way as if you are looking at the Command Centre from the TV series.
