QuickCheck: Was a viral video of a housewife blocking her husband’s car filmed in Port Dickson?

MARRIAGE is often a challenge, as two people try to overcome the challenges of life together – and sometimes those stresses can drive the best of people to do things they wouldn't normally do out of concern for their spouse.

Recently, a video went viral on Twitter of a woman trying to stop a car at a traffic light; it is claimed that the video is of a housewife trying to block her husband's car at a traffic junction in Port Dickson.

Is there any truth to this claim?

VERDICT:

TRUE

Port Dickson deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Mustafah Hussin confirmed that the incident happened as seen in the video, saying that the 32-year-old woman tried to stop the car of her 58-year-old husband as she was worried for his health.

He said that the couple had got into an argument after the man said that he was planning to drive to his son's home in Teluk Kemang, adding that the wife disagreed with her husband's plan as he was still recovering from recent medical treatment at Hospital Port Dickson.

In a press release, DSP Mustafah added that the woman got the help of a neigbour who had a motorcycle and then blocked her husband's car when she spotted him at a traffic light at Jalan Pantai Port Dickson.

“Both the husband and wife have realised the error of their actions and appeared at a police station to explain what had happened after knowing that the incident had gone viral on social media,” said DSP Mustafah.

“The couple apologises for their actions and is aware that what they did endangered themselves and other road users,” he added.
