QuickCheck: Did a road-crossing crocodile obstruct traffic in Kuantan?

A RECENT video that has since gone viral on social media showing a large crocodile blocking traffic on a road allegedly in Pahang.

Was this video really taken in Pahang?

Verdict:

YES

Pulau Manis assemblyman Mohamad Rafiq Khan Ahmad Khan says he was the one who originally uploaded the 29-second video that has since gone viral.

The clip was recorded by a villager of Kampung Seri Damai near Kuantan, Pahang and shows a fairly large crocodile in the headlights of an approaching vehicle.

The vehicle stops in its tracks as the crocodile swivels and stares in the direction of those taking the video, before turning away and swimming back into the bushes that flank the flooded road.

"We already knew that the area is a crocodile habitat. Every time it rains and the river overflows, crocodiles start roaming about.

"This is the first time they managed to record it," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Dec 13).

He then went on to warn parents to not let their children play in the area to prevent any untoward incidents.
