TOKYO: A low pressure system covered northern Japan on Tuesday (Dec 31), with weather authorities warning that a blizzard and strong winds were expected to hit the region.
Japan's Meteorological Agency forecast a severe winter storm would pound the northern island of Hokkaido and Sea of Japan coastal areas from late Tuesday.
