More than four years after the Fukushima disaster, crews are still clearing the surrouding area which remains scarred by radiation.
Tokyo (AFP) - Japan is set to restart a mothballed nuclear reactor for the first time in two years on Tuesday, the operator said, as anti-atomic sentiment still runs high following the 2011 Fukushima crisis.
The reactor No. 1 at the Sendai nuclear plant, nearly 1,000 kilometres (620 miles) southwest of Tokyo, has been loaded with atomic fuel and its operator announced Monday the reactor would be running by 10:30 am (0130 GMT) Tuesday.
