PeKa B40 to be rebranded as PekaSihat, says Fahmi

PUTRAJAYA: The PeKa B40 programme will be rebranded as PekaSihat, says Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.

The Communications Minister, who is also the government’s spokesperson, said the cabinet agreed to further improve the programme, which has been effective in addressing non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

“The Health Ministry is coordinating several measures to improve the programme's effectiveness, including reducing congestion at government health clinics by using the premises of clinics involved in the scheme,” he said.

He said the Health Ministry will announce the details later.

PeKa B40 is a government initiative under the ministry that aims to support the healthcare needs of low-income groups, and focuses on NCDs.

The programme is administered by ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ProtectHealth Malaysia, which is under the Health Ministry.

Fahmi said the initial report of the fatal Long Lellang helicopter crash involving a Flying Doctor Service team had been tabled to the cabinet.

“It has now been tabled, and we await the full report on the incident,” he said.
