KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has received an official complaint concerning MyEG and Zetrix AI Bhd and will cooperate with the police, which is investigating the matter.
In a statement on Tuesday (Oct 13), MACC said it received the complaint on Oct 7 and would review and share information with the police on offences under the police's jurisdiction.
"The police will channel any information to the MACC if there are elements of corruption for further action by the commission. The MACC also welcomes the cooperation of any party regarding the issue.
"We urge all parties not to speculate about the investigation or spread unverified information that could affect the investigation process,” it said.
The commission stressed that it would act independently, fairly and in accordance with the law.
On Oct 5, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced the suspension of MyEG and Zetrix AI Bhd as collection agents for the Road Transport Department (JPJ) after the two companies failed to remit RM314mil in collections to the government for the period from May 19 to Sept 30.
Loke said the action was taken after the companies failed to settle the outstanding amount despite 35 reminders and a series of engagements with the authorities since May. — Bernama
