Army man dies after motorcycle crash sends him off MRR2 flyover

PETALING JAYA: An Armed Forces personnel was killed after he allegedly lost control of his motorcycle, was thrown off a flyover and landed on another motorcyclist along the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) near the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) on Tuesday (Oct 13) morning.

In the incident at about 8.04am, the 24-year-old army personnel was travelling from his home in Bukit Jalil to his workplace at Sungai Besi Camp.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the victim was believed to have lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating a flyover ramp near TBS to make a U-turn.

“The victim was thrown off the flyover onto the road below, while his motorcycle remained on the flyover.

“At the same time, he landed on a 46-year-old motorcyclist travelling from Cheras towards Sungai Besi, causing both men to fall onto the road,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 13).

ACP Mohd Zamzuri said a lorry driven by a 46-year-old man attempted to avoid the two victims but was unable to do so in time and hit the second motorcyclist’s vehicle.

He said the army personnel suffered severe head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The other motorcyclist suffered a broken left arm, facial injuries and bleeding from the head. He was taken to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz for further treatment.

“The lorry driver was uninjured. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
