KOTA KINABALU: Healthcare workers have welcomed the government’s welfare measures under Budget 2027, calling the latest incentives a meaningful recognition of their commitment and sacrifices.
The Joint Council of Presidents and Secretary Generals of the Health Ministry Workers Union (Mapsu) said the initiatives will boost frontline morale and enhance healthcare delivery nationwide.
Mapsu president Ajulahin Japin highlighted key allowance hikes, including the Post Basic Incentive, which doubled from RM100 to RM200 monthly for eligible nurses and paramedics, acknowledging their specialized expertise and expanded duties.
Additionally, the Air Health Service Incentive was raised from RM30 to RM100, providing significant support for medical personnel facing tough logistical conditions to serve remote communities in Sabah and Sarawak.
“This improvement is especially significant for personnel serving in the interior regions of Sabah and Sarawak, who often rely on air transportation and face logistical challenges and demanding working environments to ensure that remote communities have access to healthcare services,” Ajulahin, who is also Sabah Medical Services Union president, said in a statement on Monday (Oct 12).
Ajulahin further commended the Special Financial Assistance for civil servants and pensioners to help ease rising living costs.
