GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has received 21 complaints over the quality of RON95 petrol at certain petrol stations here following claims that on social media that vehicles developed problems after refuelling.
Its director S. Jegan said all the complaints had been acted upon, with investigations underway to determine the cause of the reported problems.
"Ministry officers have inspected the petrol stations involved and the vehicles of complainants.
"Fuel samples from both were been taken and sent to the Chemistry Department for analysis to determine whether the petrol contains water, diesel or other substances," he told Bernama when contacted on Wednesday (Oct 7).
He said the ministry was awaiting the analysis results and would take appropriate action.
Last Sunday, the ministry said an initial inspection found no signs of water in the RON95 petrol storage tank at a petrol station in Batu Kawan.
Several individuals claimed that their vehicles had developed problems, including failing to start, after refuelling at several petrol stations in Penang. – Bernama
