KUALA LUMPUR: Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) has announced fare adjustments for its KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services, with the standard one-way adult fare between KL Sentral and KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 increasing to RM65 from RM55, effective Jan 1 next year.
ERL said the adjustment comes 11 years after the last fare revision in 2016, following significant increases in operating and maintenance costs, and is in accordance with its Concession Agreement with the government.
Its chief executive officer Datin Noormah Mohd Noor said the fare adjustment reflected the realities of operating and maintaining a high-quality airport rail service while ensuring ERL remained well-positioned to serve passengers over the long term.
“Over the years, KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit have continuously delivered a safe, reliable and comfortable service while managing rising operating costs.
“This fare adjustment will support our efforts to maintain high service standards and invest in improvements to enhance passengers’ experience, as we are committed to providing the fastest and most reliable connection between KL Sentral and KLIA,” she said in a statement yesterday.
Under the revised fare structure, ERL said the fare for children aged six to 15 would be RM29, while the return fare for the KL Sentral-KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 sector would be RM118 for adults and RM53 for children aged six to 15, with children below six years old travelling free.
It said fares for all other sectors would also be adjusted accordingly, with the revised one-way adult fares from KL Sentral to Bandar Tasik Selatan, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya, and Salak Tinggi set at RM7.70, RM16.60 and RM21.60, respectively.
The revised fares between intermediate stations would also apply, with adult fares fixed at RM9.50 between Bandar Tasik Selatan and Putrajaya and Cyberjaya, RM14.70 between Bandar Tasik Selatan and Salak Tinggi, and RM5.60 between Putrajaya and Salak Tinggi.
The fare between Bandar Tasik Selatan and KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 would be RM45.40, between Putrajaya and Cyberjaya and KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, RM11.50, and between Salak Tinggi and KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, RM5.80, while the fare between KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 would be RM2.
For children aged six to 15, the corresponding one-way fares range from RM1 to RM20.50, depending on the sector, while children below six years old will continue to travel free.
ERL said it is working closely with various partners to explore exclusive ticket discounts of up to 30% from January 2027, which would provide passengers with additional savings on their journeys, with further details to be announced once the arrangements are finalised, Bernama reported.
This year marks ERL’s 24th year of service connecting KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 with the city, with more than 141 million passengers having travelled on its trains to date.
