PETALING JAYA: Motorcyclists admitted that “towing” another motorcycle with one foot while trying to keep a balance is dangerous.
They urge fellow bikers to make sure their machines are properly maintained.
Shahrir Kifli, 34, said it was not safe for both the riders, especially on a highway.
“It is better to have insurance coverage that includes towing services. That way, if something happens, you can just call the insurance company and get a proper tow truck to bring the motorcycle to a workshop,” he said.
“Sometimes a motorcycle breaks down on the highway, and even stopping at the road shoulder can be dangerous, especially if there is heavy traffic,” he said.
Delivery rider Alif Daniel, 20, said he had helped ‘tow’ another motorcycle on the road because the person was in need of help.
“If you can help fix the bike or get petrol please do because then you can avoid the ‘towing’,” he said.
Logistics operator S. Mathan, 23, said it was dangerous towing another rider as other vehicles can run them over at any time.
“When you are ‘towing’ on a highway and cars are speeding at about 100kph, anything can happen.
“It’s better to call for a lorry or a pick up truck or even a towing service to transport the motorcycle.
