PETALING JAYA: All programmes involving freelance speakers in schools are suspended immediately, says Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek.

In a statement on Wed (Oct 1), Fadhlina said she noted several allegations circulating on social media involving a freelance speaker who had conducted programmes with pupils at a school.

She said the allegations were serious as they involved the safety and protection of pupils.

“I have asked the Education Ministry to obtain further information regarding the matter.

“I urge any individual possessing information to come forward and lodge a police report.

“Reports to the authorities are very important to ensure that the children receive the protection and support,” she said.

She said the suspension was to allow a full investigation into the matter to be carried out.

“Student safety must be treated with the utmost seriousness and scrutiny. The safety of children under our care cannot be compromised,” she said.

*Her statement comes after allegations involving a freelance speaker and school pupils circulated on social media.

Several alleged victims have come forward, sharing accounts and purported evidence of inappropriate conduct involving the speaker.

The social media posts also alleged that the speaker had touched pupils inappropriately during programmes. However, the allegations circulating online have not been independently verified.
