ALOR GAJAH: The Education Ministry has urged victims associated with the case of a freelance speaker being investigated for inappropriate conduct to come forward and lodge reports so that appropriate action can be taken.
Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek (pic) said reports from victims are important to help the authorities conduct the investigation and enable the ministry to take action.
"This is very important. If we do not have reports ... it will make things difficult for us to take action, and we don't want this matter to continue in the school environment.
"We want our schools to be truly safe in that aspect," she told reporters after a handover ceremony of completed projects by the Melaka Public Works Department (JKR) to the ministry at SMK Durian Tunggal here on Friday (Oct 2).

Also present was Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
She said the ministry took the issue seriously and would not compromise on the safety of children in schools.
"I have already mentioned that all programmes involving the freelance speaker have been immediately halted to allow for the ongoing investigation.
"We take this seriously, and we ask the children or the victims involved to come forward to the authorities and make a report, while all school parties, including the administrators, take this matter seriously to ensure the safety of the students is always a priority," she added.
In a statement on Thursday (Oct 1), Fadhlina directed all school programmes involving a freelance speaker accused of inappropriate behaviour to be immediately stopped to allow for a full investigation. – Bernama
