KUALA LUMPUR: The National Unity Ministry will request RM550.7mil under Budget 2027 to fund six initiatives aimed at strengthening national identity and community harmony and preserving Malaysia’s heritage.
Its Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said the proposed allocation sought from the Finance Ministry would support the government’s broader nation-building agenda.
"The six initiatives include National Unity and Identity, Community Harmony, Ini Warisan Kita (This Is Our Heritage), Digitalisation of National Treasures, upgrading of unity premises, and matching grants for museums, archives and libraries.
"We will be meeting the Finance Ministry tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept 22) on this," he said during a press conference at the Malaysia Storytelling Festival 2026 on Monday (Sept 210.
Looking back, he said that for Budget 2026, his ministry received RM650.48mil in operating expenditure, RM117.52mil in development expenditure, and a total of RM136mil allocated for its initiatives.
Aaron said all Budget 2027 requests and initiatives would be aligned with the ministry’s focus on nation-building.
