KOTA KINABALU: Two civil servants were arrested by graft investigators on suspicion of submitting documents containing false particulars to obtain claims for security patrol and disaster monitoring duty allowances amounting to approximately RM30,000.
Sources said that the two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were detained at about 10am on Sept 17 when they turned up to provide statements at the Lahad Datu Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) branch office.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were believed to have conspired in committing the offence between 2022 and 2023.
When contacted, Sabah MACC director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
He said they expected both suspects to be charged at the Tawau Special Corruption Court in Sabah on Sept 24, 2026.
