MELAKA: A total of 24 major projects worth RM128.25mil have been allocated to the state, with most expected to be completed by the end of this year, says Nga Kor Ming.
The Housing and Local Government Minister said the funds fall under Rolling Plan 1 of the 13th Malaysia Plan for 2026.
“This allocation reflects the ministry’s commitment to upgrading public infrastructure, maintaining public flats, clearing drainage networks and completing Rumah Mesra Rakyat units on schedule,” he told a press conference during the state-level Sentuhan Kasih 4.0 programme yesterday.
“It also covers non-Muslim places of worship and facilities requiring urgent upkeep, with work on most projects starting immediately.”
Of the total, RM32.8mil goes to the National Solid Waste Management Department to build extra cells at the Sungai Udang waste disposal site.
Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd receives RM29.6mil to construct 390 Rumah Mesra Rakyat homes due for completion this year.
RM24.9mil is earmarked for Local Government Department public amenities, including the Melaka Sentral wholesale market, the new Jasin market, Madani food stalls, slope repairs and public toilet upgrades under the Bersih, Menawan dan Wangi (BMW) initiative.
For housing developments, RM10mil is allocated for phase one of PR1MA Padang Temu, alongside RM8.5 million for People’s Residency Programme projects in Klebang, Bukit Katil and Paya Rumput.
A further RM5.8mil will fund maintenance across 28 housing schemes, while RM4mil is set aside to repair 125 urban homes and build 11 new houses.
Additionally, RM5.4mil will support 35 non-Muslim places of worship under a state maintenance fund initiative.
The National Landscape Department receives RM2mil to upgrade public parks, while the Melaka Fire and Rescue Department gets RM877,000 to refurbish the Jalan Kubu station.
The remaining RM745,000 will fund development projects across six local new villages.
