MELAKA: A 36-year-old cook died after he fell from his bicycle when its front wheel became wedged in a drain grate in Bukit Beruang here.
Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Halim Abas said the victim, identified as Ahmad Shazlye Hassan, suffered facial and head injuries in the 7.10pm incident on Monday (Sept 14).
"The victim was rushed to Hospital Melaka but was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at about 9pm," he said on Tuesday (Sept 15).
ACP Halim said the victim, who lived in Taman Bunga Raya, Bukit Beruang, was cycling towards a junction when the accident occurred.
"The bicycle’s front wheel is believed to have become trapped between the bars of a drain grate, causing him to fall and sustain injuries," he said.
