Haze: Number of areas with unhealthy air quality climbs to 23 as at 6pm on Sept 14


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 23 areas nationwide have recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as at 6pm on Monday (Sept 14).

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, four areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy API readings, namely Serian (182), Sri Aman (163), Samarahan (161) and Kuching (154).

In Johor the air pollutant index for Pasir Gudang was 160, Larkin (158), Pengerang (157), Kota Tinggi (152), Tangkak (152), Kluang (145) and Batu Pahat (127).

Other places were Johan Setia (163), Shah Alam (153) and Banting (132) in Selangor; Nilai (157) and Seremban (155) in Negri Sembilan; Alor Gajah (143) and Bukit Rambai (120) in Melaka; Balok Baru (151) and Indera Mahkota (133) in Pahang; Cheras, Kuala Lumpur (156); Putrajaya (153) and Seri Manjung, Perak (147).

Forty-five areas had moderate API readings and there was no record of any good API reading.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.
