PETALING JAYA: As Sarawak’s south-west continues to endure the worst haze, with air pollutant index (API) readings over 200, hazy conditions have also blanketed other regions across the country.
Very unhealthy API levels were recorded in Sarawak’s south-west areas of IPD Serian (239), Kuching (242), Sri Aman (215) and Samarahan (219) as of 6pm yesterday, according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (Apims).
Unhealthy API levels were detected in seven other areas across Sarawak in Mukah (182), Sarikei (184), Samalaju (178), ILP Miri (174), Bintulu (167), Miri (164) and Sibu (163).
In Peninsular Malaysia, unhealthy API levels were detected across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya (156), Perak, Melaka and Negri Sembilan.
This includes areas in Selangor such as Johan Setia (164), Shah Alam (163), Banting (158), Petaling Jaya (154), Klang (155) and Kuala Selangor (151).
Perak saw unhealthy API levels at Tasek Ipoh (159), Seri Manjung (156), Tanjung Malim (156), and Pegoh Ipoh (152), together with Melaka’s Alor Gajah (144) and Bukit Rambai (130).
Other affected areas include Nilai (159) and Seremban (152) in Negri Sembilan as well as Batu Muda (165), and Cheras (161) in Kuala Lumpur.
Thirty-nine other areas across the country recorded moderate to good API readings.
Meanwhile, critical water levels were recorded at two major dams that supply raw water to water treatment plants (WTP) across the country, with eight others also at warning status, according to the National Water Services Commission (SPAN).
