PETALING JAYA: The wife of a missing fireman has ventured into the flood-hit areas of Nepal with a local non-governmental organisation, as she continues efforts to find her husband and his team members.
Hani Othman said she was travelling with local disaster relief body Samundra/Himalayan Leaders, which is delivering aid to communities affected by the disaster.
“I am heading to the affected area from Nuwakot to Betrawati with the local NGO named Samundra/Himalayan Leaders,” she said in a Facebook post yesterday.
She also shared updates on the organisation’s preparations to leave for Trishuli, which the valley and surrounding settlements were severely devastated by catastrophic flash floods and landslides on Aug 26.
Hani’s husband, Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Fakhrul Munir Mohd Isa, in his 40s and affectionately known as Loe, is reported missing after the expedition team he was travelling with was caught in the flooding, believed to have occurred in a valley in Rasuwa.
Also missing from the same expedition is Mohd Fakhrul Munir’s colleague, deputy director of operations Mohd Sani Harul.
While helping distribute aid to disaster victims in Kathmandu, Hani said she also met the wife of the driver who had transported the expedition team.
“I also met the wife of the driver who was transporting Loe’s team,” she said.
She added that the wife was among victims who had arrived in Kathmandu after being rescued from Timure.
Hani also said she had channelled contributions from Malaysians on behalf of the nine-member team of her husband.
“Throughout the time I have known them, they have all been good people. They are also generous and always willing to help others.
“May Allah ease all efforts to locate them and protect them, wherever they may be.
“Let us put aside our differences in religion and race for now, and pray for the best for all of them,” she added.
Hani had travelled alone to Nepal in search of her husband and his teammates.
