PETALING JAYA: A late-night blaze destroyed two plastic waste processing warehouses in Section 32, Shah Alam, on Wednesday (Sept 2), according to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department.
The department received an emergency call at 10.59pm, prompting a swift response from multiple units. A team of 26 personnel and officers from the Shah Alam station, supported by crews from Andalas, Bukit Jelutong, and Klang Utara, arrived on the scene within 11 minutes, reported Sinar Harian.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said that the fire had consumed both structures along with three forklifts, a lorry, and two compressor machines.
Firefighters brought the flames under control by 12.20am, bringing suppression efforts to roughly 80% completion by 1.15am on Thursday (Sep 3).
Ashrul Riezal noted that preliminary inspections revealed the premises lacked an installed fire safety system. No casualties have been reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
