PUTRAJAYA: No statutory declaration has been received by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in its investigations into former human resources minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.
"As of now no such letters have been received regarding the issue. We are still waiting," said MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman at a press conference on Wednesday (Sept 2).
When asked about a so-called "main witnesses" who recently passed away, Abd Halim said only the investigation officer and related MACC higher-ups know the full details.
He added that he could not comment too much on the case as it had been brought to the courts.
On Aug 28, Saravanan claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to three charges of graft involving more than RM1mil linked to approvals of foreign workers.
The 58-year-old pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out before Sessions Court judge Azura Alwi.
