JKR director among three conferred Datukship

MELAKA: State Public Works Department (JKR) director Salzeli Moktar and Kumpulan Melaka Bhd group chief executive officer Akmal Abdul Manap were among those conferred state awards carrying the title Datuk.

Both received the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (DPSM) during the second session of the investiture ceremony held in conjunction with the 77th birthday of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam.

Media Prima Bhd group managing editor for news and current affairs Farrah Naz Abd Karim was also conferred the DPSM, which carries the title Datuk.

Farrah Naz is also the New Straits Times group editor.

Popular singer and actress Ayda Jebat was also among those honoured yesterday.

The Ayer Keroh-born entertainer, whose real name is Nur Suhada Jebat, received the Bintang Cemerlang Melaka (BCM) in recognition of her contributions to the entertainment industry.

A total of 1,328 recipients received state awards, medals and honours in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertua Negeri’s birthday this year.

The recipients comprise state and federal civil servants, politicians, corporate figures, members of non-governmental organisations, media practitioners and volunteers.
