WITH some help from friends, newcomers KOI turned a simple idea into an impactful performance that won them the 40th Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL40), Harian Metro reported.

The group dedicated four days to cutting 200,000 pieces of paper with humanitarian messages, which they scattered from above the stage during their performance of Tiwikarma.

Group representative Mya Nana said the performance was designed to portray suffering and oppression through the dancers’ movements, while their earth-coloured outfits reflected this concept.

> Rain, slippery trails, leeches, flash floods and elephants are among the challenges faced by two women mountain guides from Hulu Dungun, Terengganu.

Noor Azura Abdul Wahab, 41, said being a mountain guide was not just about leading hikers but also keeping them safe, Utusan Malaysia reported.

Single mother Nor Hayati Hamzah, 41, has also faced dangerous situations, including three flash floods.

“It taught me not to panic during an emergency,” she said.
