BANGI: While Pakatan Harapan remains capable of governing on its own, it will be open to discussing cooperation with other political bloc if circumstances require it, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
“Not only with one side, even with Perikatan Nasional or Bersatu, (cooperation) can be thought about.
“The underlying principle (in forming cooperation) is political stability and the welfare of the people,” said the Pakatan presidential council member.
However, Amirudin, who is Selangor Mentri Besar and PKR vice-president, said it was still too early to discuss the matter, adding that any decision would have to be made collectively with the central leadership.
“I cannot make such a decision on my own. If there are discussions, I will bring them to the central leadership,” he said.
Recent media reports suggested that Selangor Pakatan was open to exploring to possibility of working with Bersatu.
“Many political ‘bomoh’ are making speculations. We can only hope and pray,” he added.
On the decision by Nurul Izzah Anwar to step down as PKR deputy president, Amirudin said the party would inevitably feel some effect.
“The party will be affected to some extent, but we have a capable leadership line-up to shoulder the responsibilities.
“For the government, I do not think it will be very impactful because she does not hold an executive position in the government,” he said.
On the upcoming PKR congress, Amirudin said issues to be debated would be on politics, economic development, strengthening reform agenda and consolidating the party.
“There is no specific resolution on future political arrangements,” he added.
The PKR national congress will be held in Melaka this weekend.
