BANGI: If required, Pakatan Harapan will be open to discussions on cooperation with any political bloc, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
However, the Selangor Mentri Besar said Pakatan remained capable of governing on its own.
“Pakatan has its own strength to govern if anything happens at the political level.
"Cooperation with any party can be considered — not only with one side, even with Perikatan Nasional can be thought about.
"The principle is political stability and the welfare of the people,” he told reporters when met at the Human Ecology International Conference at a hotel near here on Monday (Aug 10).
However, Amirudin, who is also the PKR election director, said it was still too early to discuss any formal cooperation before the next mandate from the rakyat.
Amirudin also said that any decision would have to be made collectively with the party’s central leadership.
“I cannot make such a decision on my own because I am also responsible to the leadership at the central level. If there are discussions, I will bring them to the central leadership,” he said.
He added that current talk of possible political realignments was speculation arising from developments at the national level and from recent state election discussions.
“These are still outside ideas and opinions. Many political ‘bomoh’ are making speculations. We can only hope and pray,” he said.
