KUALA LUMPUR: An aesthetics education provider has claimed trial to eight charges of issuing fake certificates involving recognised aesthetician courses.
Ng Wee Kiong, 72, pleaded not guilty to all the charges, which were framed under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property.
In the first Sessions Court, Ng claimed trial to four charges before judge Azrul Darus yesterday.
Lawyer Zander Lim Wai Keong, representing Ng, asked for a lower bail amount.
Initially set at RM15,000 for each charge, the court allowed the bail amount to be reduced to RM40,000 for the four charges with one surety, after taking into account mitigating factors.
At another Sessions Court, Ng pleaded not guilty to one cheating charge before judge Muhammad Ilmami Ahmad, who granted bail at RM10,000 with one surety.
The accused also claimed trial to three more charges before Sessions Court judge Norma Ismail.
Bail was offered at RM20,000 with one surety.
The next mention is set on Sept 29.
If convicted, the accused faces a jail term of between one and 10 years, whipping and a fine.
