KUALA LUMPUR: Lim Seong Hai Capital Bhd (LSH Capital) launched the Lim Seong Hai Legacy Cup 2026 (LSH Legacy Cup 2026) at LSH33 in Sentul.
Building on the inaugural edition held in 2025, the community-centric cultural programme expands with a broader lineup of competitions designed to preserve and promote traditional Chinese heritage among Malaysians.
This year’s edition comprises four cultural-themed competitions, staged across four consecutive weekends in November 2026.
The four are the Calligraphy Competition (Nov 8), Chinese Ink Painting Competition (Nov 15), Chinese Cultural Dance Competition (Nov 22) and the 20th Malaysia Youth Xiangqi Championship 2026 (Nov 27-29).
Through a series of competitions rooted in cultural heritage, the initiative aims to bring families and individuals together in celebration of creativity, tradition and community spirit. It also reflects LSH Capital’s continued support for preserving and promoting Chinese cultural traditions as part of Malaysia’s multicultural social landscape.
Across the four competitions, a total of RM30,100 in cash prizes will be awarded to outstanding participants across various age groups, up from RM22,800 in the inaugural edition.
Each competition will be supported by experienced judges drawn from their respective disciplines, with the Calligraphy and Xiangqi competitions featuring internationally graded panels, ensuring cultural integrity and competitive credibility.
The programme also broadens its reach this year with the introduction of a Chinese Ink Painting Competition and a Chinese Cultural Dance Competition, opening participation to a wider range of artistic disciplines and age groups, from children under 12 to seniors aged 50 and above.

The LSH Legacy Cup 2026 is made possible through close collaboration with established cultural organisations, including The Federation of Calligraphy Society Malaysia, Chinese Ink Painting Society Malaysia, Qin Arts Academy, Hexin Dance Academy, Malaysia XiangQi Association and Kuala Lumpur XiangQi Association.
These organisations will oversee their respective competition segments, providing expertise in competition management, artistic framework design, judging and execution to ensure a professional and high-quality experience for all participants.
The Federation of Calligraphy Society Malaysia national chief judge Adam Ng said, “We are delighted to see the LSH Legacy Cup Calligraphy Competition enter its second year. “Calligraphy competitions in Malaysia have historically been organised by Chinese community associations and clan societies, which makes it especially significant to see a listed company of LSH Capital's standing take up this cause.
“In recent years, Chinese calligraphy has steadily entered the mainstream, gaining support from the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry, the National Unity Ministry, the Education Ministry, and the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry and seeing practitioners invited to participate in exhibitions, seminars and cultural programmes both locally and internationally. We believe this makes a meaningful contribution to cross-cultural exchange and national harmony."
Qin Arts Academy founder and principal Lai Huey Qin said, “We are deeply honoured to be a collaborating partner of this year's LSH Legacy Cup. A competition of this nature is more than a platform for showcasing creative work; it is a meaningful opportunity for exchange, learning and cultural continuity.
“Through this event, we hope to deepen appreciation for the artistic value of Chinese ink painting, inspire a new generation to explore traditional art and contribute to the ongoing preservation and development of this beloved art form.”
Chinese Ink Painting Society Malaysia president Raymond Liew Ying Kam said, "This year marks the 31st anniversary of the Chinese Ink Painting Society Malaysia.
“Over the decades, the society has been dedicated to promoting the art of ink painting and nurturing talent within this tradition. We are honoured to co-organise this competition. As public awareness of ink painting remains relatively limited, we hope this event will spark interest and appreciation for the art among primary and secondary school students, allowing this cultural tradition to take root and flourish in our schools.

Hexin Dance Academy founder Danson Sim (represented at the launch by Kym Tan) said, “We are delighted to join the LSH Legacy Cup 2026 as a collaborating partner and honoured to be part of an event of such cultural significance.
“This competition provides dance enthusiasts with a high-calibre platform for exchange and performance and we hope it will broaden appreciation for Chinese culture while supporting the preservation and development of traditional dance.

Kuala Lumpur XiangQi Association president Datuk Wong Tiang Lien said, "This is the second year that the Kuala Lumpur XiangQi Association has participated in the LSH Legacy Cup and we are proud to have elevated this year into a national championship co-organised with the Malaysia XiangQi Association, bringing together elite young players from XiangQi associations across the country to compete, connect and celebrate.
“Young players are the future and hope of XiangQi in Malaysia.
“We hope all participants will uphold the spirit of 'forging bonds and building character through the game', demonstrating wisdom, sportsmanship and determination at the board and channelling new energy into the long-term growth and legacy of Malaysian XiangQi."
Registration for all four competitions is open online.
All competitions are scheduled for November 2026, giving participants approximately two months to register and prepare.
