KUALA LUMPUR: Former chief justice Tun Mohamed Eusoff Chin has passed away on Friday (Aug 7). He was 90.
The news was confirmed by his daughter Zuliana, in a statement, who said that her father passed away at 1am and that funeral prayers will be held at Masjid Al-Hidayat in Kelana Jaya.
The Batu Gajah-born Mohamed Eusoff served as chief justice from 1999 to 2000.
He began his career in 1955 as a teacher before pursuing his studies in London.
He was called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn, London, in 1963, qualifying as an advocate and solicitor.
Subsequently, he joined the Judicial and Legal Service, holding various key positions including Magistrate, Sessions Court President, Deputy Public Prosecutor, Assistant Registrar, Legal Advisor, Parliamentary Draftsman, High Court Judge of Malaya, and President of the Court of Appeal.
