Dad charged with sexually assaulting two teen daughters

IPOH: A lorry driver was charged at the Sessions Court here with 21 counts of physical sexual assault against his two biological daughters.

The 41-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charges under Sections 14(a), 14(b) and 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 before Sessions judge Jean Sharmila Jesudason yesterday.

The accused allegedly committed the offences against his 13- and 16-year-old daughters at a house in Iskandar Perdana, Seri Iskandar, between April and July this year.

The prosecution requested for no bail to be offered, citing the seriousness of the case. Or, if bail were granted, the court impose strict conditions, including a non-family guarantor, a gag order on contacting victims or witnesses and monthly reporting to a police station.

Pleading for lower bail, the unrepresented accused said he earns RM2,500 a month and supports three children, his 63-year-old mother and his wife.

He also gave his assurance that if granted bail, he would stay at his mother’s house in Teluk Intan and would not approach the girls.

Judge Jean Sharmila set bail at RM15,750 with one non-family local surety for all 21 charges.

The court also ordered the accused to report to a police station once a month and barred him from contacting the victims, their family members or any prosecution witnesses.

The case has been fixed for mention on Sept 14.

A friend of the family from Teluk Intan posted bail.
