JOHOR BARU: Police have busted a drug syndicate with the arrest of seven people and the seizure of RM10mil in drugs in a series of raids around Johor.
Among the 210kg of drugs seized were 127 litres of methamphetamine liquid, cocaine, ketamin, heroin, Eramin 5 and Ecstasy pills, says Johor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Hoo Chuan Huat.
The suspects – five Malaysian men and two foreigners, including a woman – are aged between 36 and 46.
“They are believed to have been using a condominium to pack the drugs to be supplied locally,” he told a press conference here.
In detailing the five raids, DCP Hoo said the first arrest was made at a rest area in Kulai on Aug 2 at about 11am.
“We arrested a local man and a foreign woman and seized 82.4kg of methamphetamine liquid from a car,” he said, adding that they subsequently raided a home in Iskandar Puteri and detained another foreigner.
“We found an array of drugs and equipment from this premises which was used to pack the drugs into flavoured vapes,” he said, adding that they then carried out another raid in Taman Sutera Utama and arrested a Malaysian.
The fourth raid was done in Mutiara Rini and finally the fifth raid, which nabbed three men including the mastermind, was done in Tanjung Agas in Muar.
“The drugs are enough to feed 650,000 addicts,” DCP Hoo said, adding the syndicate had been operating since February.
“Two suspects tested positive for drugs and four suspects have criminal records,” he said.
Police also seized three cars worth RM120,000.
Investigations are being done under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
