LOCAL model and activist Kasthuri Muniandy has been conferred the Queen of Earth 2026 award for her environmental leadership, Malaysia Nanban reported.

She received the award at the Mrs/Ms Earth world finals held in Kuala Lumpur on July 25, where she also received the Green Leadership Queen award and the best interview award.

Kasthuri, who began working as a model in 2021, has won numerous awards in her career and for her activism.

She once took part in a national-level modelling competition while pregnant in 2025.

The lawyer and mother of two young children is focused on two main causes.

She is working to raise awareness about kidney disease in children, including helping to organise campaigns, educating carers of children and helping poor families get treatment.

Her other passion is environmental protection.

She also promotes environmental education, campaigning for access to clean water, reducing waste and cleaning up pollution.
