IPOH: Efforts to improve school quality in Perak have received a boost, with 123 schools set to receive a total allocation of RM12.3mil.
The Education Ministry’s Education Planning and Operation Sector (day school management section) deputy director Salmah Abd Murad said the allocation focuses on improving teaching and learning, strengthening school leadership, enhancing teachers’ professional development and reinforcing student achievement.
“The allocation would benefit 63 primary schools and 60 secondary schools across all 12 districts, with each getting RM100,000 to support the implementation of school transformation initiatives.
“The initiative also involves about 1,500 schools nationwide,” she told reporters after the state-level school reform letter handover ceremony yesterday.
Salmah said the initiative reflects the ministry’s continued commitment to advancing the school reform agenda under the Malaysia Education Plan 2026-2035 while building a quality, inclusive and high-impact education ecosystem.
She said schools receiving the allocation should organise programmes to improvise student performance, particularly in Bahasa Melayu, English and STEM.
Salmah said selected schools were identified under the inspiring school category by the state Education Department and the district education offices.
“We will begin disbursing the allocations to selected schools starting this month, with the funds to be used till year-end.
“We hope the initiative will further motivate schools to excel by improving academic performance, increasing student achievement and enhancing overall learning,” she said.
