SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan police will implement closures and diversions on several major roads in the Seremban, Rembau, and Jelebu districts on polling and vote-tallying day for the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election on Saturday (Aug 1).
State police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the road closures and diversions will be in effect from 7am to 5pm for the voting process, and from 6pm to midnight for the vote-tallying process.
He said the road closures and diversions in Seremban involve Jalan Yam Tuan (Madura), Jalan Tunku Hassan, Jalan Lim Kee Siong, Jalan Dato Sheikh Ahmad, Lorong Khalsa, Jalan Dato Bandar Tunggal, Jalan Persiaran Forest Heights 1 and Jalan Persiaran Forest Heights 2.
"Alternative routes in the district include Jalan Dato' Abdul Malek, Jalan Tuanku Munawir, Jalan Tunku Hassan, Jalan Dato Abdul Kadir, Jalan Kuil, Jalan Leftenan Adnan, Taman Dusun Setia and Jalan Taman Seremban Garden," he said in a statement here Wednesday (July 29).
The closures and diversions in Jelebu involve Jalan Dato Syed Ali (Public Bank), the Jalan Kuala Klawang-Seremban traffic lights (in front of the traffic police station and Jelebu Magistrate's Court), Jalan Seremban-Simpang Pertang (Kuala Klawang Hotel to the Kuala Klawang town traffic lights), and the Jalan Dato Abdullah-Jalan Dato Syed Ali traffic lights, while the alternative routes are Jalan Dato' Moyang Salleh and Jalan Larong.
DCP Alzafny said that in Rembau, the road closures and diversions involve Jalan Seremban-Tampin, which will be temporarily closed to allow for the procession of candidate supporters to the vote-tallying centre at Dewan Sri Rembau. Road users are advised to use alternative routes that will be determined by on-duty police officers based on prevailing conditions.
Additionally, road closures in the district also involve Jalan Dato' Lela Maharaja, with the alternative route being Jalan Rembau Pedas.
He advised all road users, including operators and drivers of commercial vehicles, to plan their journeys in advance, avoid main roads involving polling centres, and use the suggested alternative routes on the specified dates and times.
He also said that commercial vehicles such as tour buses, factory buses, school buses and lorries, except for one-tonne lorries, are not permitted to pass through polling centre areas from 7am to 6pm on polling day.
"Operators and drivers of commercial or heavy vehicles are also advised to avoid travelling through critical routes, especially during peak hours," he added. - Bernama
