JEMPOL: PAS Election Director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor (pic) has dismissed Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin’s proposal for a "Perikatan Barisan Nasional Alliance" (PBN) ahead of the upcoming state elections, calling the idea completely out of left field.
Sanusi said the proposed name had never been brought up for discussion among coalition leaders, reported Sinar Harian.
"I’ve never heard of it until now—it came out of nowhere. There has been no discussion at that level," Sanusi said.
"We all have our respective parties. Perikatan has its own, and Barisan has its own. So where does 'PBN' come from? There is no such party. It’s not serious and an offhand comment; there's no need to blow it out of proportion."
"It’s not a policy decision, and there was no prior consensus. He’s the only one floating this idea," Sanusi told reporters following a joint PN-BN rally for the Jempol parliamentary constituency in Bandar Seri Jempol on Thursday (July 23).
Earlier, Hamzah, who is also president of the Parti Wawasan Rakyat, proposed the term "PBN" to describe the cooperation between the two political blocs, claiming it would prevent voter confusion over the working relationship between Barisan and Perikatan.
