KUALA LUMPUR: After seven years of legal battle, Datin Seri Zizie Izette Abdul Samad only wants to live her life following her acquittal in a RM2.8mil graft case by the Sessions Court.
"I just want to live my life. I have a big responsibility with five children and I am a single mother now," she said while holding back her tears.
Speaking to the press after the proceedings ended, Zizie Izette thanked her legal team and the court for the decision that freed her.

"I wish my late husband was here with me. I imagined that he was right next to me when the decision was delivered.
"I am not a person to tell everything, I don't talk about my life, it's my privacy. It is enough that I keep it all in for seven years. Today I feel so relieved," she added.
Earlier, the Sessions Court acquitted Zizie Izette of three charges of abetting her late husband Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin involving a RM2.8mil bribery linked to a RM150mil unit trust investment.
Bung Moktar died on Dec 5, 2025 from health complications due to a severe lung infection and kidney failure.
On Sept 2, 2022, the Sessions Court found that the prosecution had established a prima facie case and ordered Bung Moktar and Zizie Izette to enter their defence. They filed a revision application against the decision and won at the High Court on Sept 7, 2023.
The prosecution appealed the decision at the Court of Appeal.
On Nov 18, 2024, the Court of Appeal allowed the prosecution's appeal against the Sept 7 High Court's decision that allowed the revision and ordered them to enter their defence.
Bung Moktar and Zizie tried to get another panel of judges of the appellate court to review the Court of Appeal's decision by filing a review application but failed to obtain leave.
Their case proceeded to the defence stage at the Sessions Court where Bung Moktar testified on Sept 2, 2025.
He died the same year on Dec 5 from complications of a severe lung infection and kidney failure.
Following his death, the Sessions Court acquitted Bung Moktar of all three charges on Jan 16 after the prosecution decided not to proceed with the case, leaving Zizie Izette to stand trial on her own.
The defence closed its case after Zizie Izette completed her testimony on March 5.
