Perfect timing for Johor fans

JOHOR BARU: The FIFA World Cup 2026 final held this morning could not have come at a better time, especially for some Johorean football fans who would undoubtedly have taken advantage of a four-day break by taking leave today.

This is because tomorrow is a public holiday for Johor since it is Hari Hol Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail.

Those who took annual leave or are on medical leave will have the opportunity to watch the final between Argentina and Spain, with the bonus of having an extra day to “recover” after almost 40 days of World Cup action.

Faralia Jamaluddin, 43, said the long weekend will provide the perfect opportunity to enjoy both the football spectacle and the entertainment surrounding it.

She had applied for leave a week ago to extend the public holiday into a long weekend.

“I also want to watch the halftime show as the performers are Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber and BTS,” Faralia added.
